BT Procurement of Protective Clothing
29 August 2017
The Personnel Team has pursued the policy contained in motion 82 from 2017 Annual Conference regarding BT's procurement of corporate and protective clothing.
Motion 82 is reproduced below;
‘Conference recognises the appalling conditions that many clothing workers in the developing world are experiencing. As such this conference instructs the T&FS Executive to ensure that all corporate and protective clothing are obtained from ethically approved suppliers and that these suppliers observe international labour standards.’
Central Counties and Thames Valley
The company has responded, stating the company’s policies and procedures are based on the United Nations universal declaration of human rights and a number of other international standards. Hopefully this satisfies the policy contained within motion 82. However if we do become aware of any issues we will pursue further.
